Following on from the sound insulation system for concrete piles, IHC Hydrohammer B.V. developed a system for reducing sound radiation during the driving of steel piles. In this case not only do the hammer and the impact plate have to be insulated, but also the pile itself. IHC Hydrohammer B.V. developed a "bellows system" that can be uncoupled from the hammer so that the pile insulation can remain underground when the casing is filled with concrete. The equivalent sound level for an average day of driving at a distance of 15 m is LAeqD = 78 dB(A).
